Bulova is one of the great unsung names in women's vintage watchmaking. Founded in New York in 1875, the company was designing dedicated women's wristwatches as early as 1917 — years before most competitors took the category seriously. What followed was one of the richest catalogues of ladies' timepieces of the twentieth century: sculptural Art Deco cocktail watches in rolled gold plate, jewelled mechanical movements, and designs that treated the wristwatch as something closer to jewellery than instrument.
